Friday, November 02, 2001 np: for all the gentlemen and dykes, we play our pop-culture rhythms... "1/2 length" (for kathleen hannah) i don't think she expects that i am listening and if she does i'm sure she thinks i'm mad and spouting all the traditional oathes at her never belieing the prejudice she has and all I do is feel so small and wonder what I did so wrong to half a race things she says they worry me to death i count and measure everything i do and say i'm sorry to every living thing for breathing my stench into their living room and all I do is feel so wrong and count how many times I did harm to half a race it's creeping into all the parts of me i curse even my simplest base desires for being filthy, dominating anti-freedom pose i cannot be a man cannot be a hu-man. ------- to those who can recall, london in the fall, i beseech you cry out to me. these are the days with sun bearing down through trees in hyde park the tall marble arch and albert memorial in the full moon my breath a cascading cloud, its halo i walk busy streets and lift up humanity in the midsts of war and death everywhere everyday i lift you up i will praise you in my skin in my life in my art for within every single one of you is me is god is you i have taken on me the symbol i choose to represent you all and my love of this: this moment this magic, this universal heart b-e-a-t and i won't stand to let anyone deny my human-abil-ity i will not be speared for what i am born: me. and fuck you for thinking otherwise. -------- i'm angry as hell. but i've already gone off about this with someone who will undboutedly read it, sigh goodnaturedly, and forgive me for going on and on. at least, i hope so. i saw nanci griffith last night. speaking of more positive things. a beautiful, heart rendering set of one of the finest country/folk writers texas has ever produced. she makes my heart tingle. and tonight, it's bastard son of country, jim white. if you haven't heard him..go listen to "handcuffed to a fence in mississippi" and see what i'm talking about. that man rocks. and the handsome family. i think freewriting wore me out. london is beautiful. i'm in love with this city. and with brynn. and with my new..symbol. *wink* you might know..you might not. i'll post pictures eventually i reckon. posted by J.
