np: toad the wet sprocket - fear

there's a record i haven't listened to in awhile. it's one of those things where, you have a band that you absolutely adore (in my case, either toad the wet sprocket or the replacements) and after listening to them with such dedication for years..you just go through big spells where you don't listen to them. maybe this only happens with bands who aren't producing new material. but i'm not sure.

last week i saw two marvelous shows. first, the stellar girls against boys played at go! in chapel hill. their new record comes out in may and i'm terribly excited. they were tré cool. and on saturday night, i saw fugazi for only the second time in my life. (only. heh.) the last time was in january of 2000. that was with fisher and grace. quite an adventure. that was at the awful tremont music hall in charlotte. this show was at the ritz in raleigh and was quite superior. (except for the lack of "five corporations" and "witness protection program" in the setlist) two encores. lots of stellar songs ("turnover," "smallpox champion," "closed caption," "the argument," "last chance for a slow dance," etc.)

next up on the major shows list is macrock in virginia, flogging molly at ziggy's and then hayden at go! very cool.

there are parts of my life where i feel like i'm helpless. and that i've let my self down so much that i'm so far behind and it's irreparable. but then there are parts where i feel everything is coming together and that i'm the most fulfilled person alive. i'm all over the place. i'm so in love with the future. the present, well, in the words of many a man aboard the pequod, 'thar she blows.' but only because of work load and uncertainty regarding my classes and...

i don't know. i'm just flustered this eve.

it's definitely time for bed. perhaps i'll have something more poetic or revealing or interesting next time.

maybe it's time i used this thing to really open up.

dare i?
