np: whiskeytown - stranger's almanac
it's obviously been awhile since i posted anything here. i started my summer camp job (which i mentioned a few posts back) and have been rather busy between that and my bookstore job. working forty hours a week with fourth graders (who have been rather trying at points. but rewarding at others.) and then sixteen hours in a bookstore when you're not working there (example day: wake up at 6:30 to get to camp by 8:00 in charlotte, off at 4:00pm, home until 5:45 to get to bookstore at 6:00pm to work until close, roughly getting out around 10:15pm.) is tough. heh. at least now i know what it's like for people who have to work two jobs. and i'm sure i'm not even close to the kind of strain they go through.
i'm off today to go to see jim white at the cat's cradle in chapel hill. i saw him last fall at the beyond nashville festival in london and he was amazing. he's opening tonight for luna so we'll see how it goes.
also, b- is back home. hoorah. that eases so much stress in this world.
i'm playing some more shows at on common grounds this summer (played last night, actually. i thought i performed really well, but we'll see.) upcoming dates: friday, 12th july (8pm - 11pm) and friday 2nd august (8pm - 11pm). i even improvised a song on stage. i know that's really, really not that exciting, but it was for me, mostly cos what came out was really good. i pulled out some new material that i hadn't played in awhile. even did a cover of whiskeytown's "excuse me if i break my own heart" which i thought went really well. i'm starting to feel like i'm doing better. performing better. after the previous show, i didn't feel very good about it. but things were good last night. real good.
