Saturday, November 16, 2002 np: blondie - "one way or another" (jeremy and ali's radio show) j's indie/rock mayhem 13th november 2002 Theme Song - Peaches - "Rock Show" > Jurassic 5 - "A Day at the Races" Mclusky - "What We've Learned" Radio 4 - "Start a Fire" [from their brilliant Gotham album] Hello from Waveland - "Powerless" [a great new band that reminds me of what was so great about indie rock in the early 90s] > Destroyer - "The Chosen Few" [fifth album from this ex-New Pornographer. really quite good.] Drive-by Truckers - "Birmingham" [unquestionable rock] Dinosaur Jr. - "Feel the Pain" [in perusing the vinyl stacks, i saw our copy of Without a Sound and couldn't resist] Polaris - "Hey, Sandy" [pseudo by request. they wanted something goofy to send out to some friends at work and the best i could wrangle up on short notice was this, the theme song to The Adventures of Pete and Pete] > Jason Anderson/Wolf Colonel - "Jet Ski Accidents" [possibly the best song to namedrop individual members of Hüsker Dü ever. best Hüsker's related song though goes to the 'Mats' "Something to Dü"] Tori Amos - "Enjoy the Silence" [by request. the caller wanted something off little earthquakes but in typical QFS fashion i'm sure it was stolen years ago. so i went with this Depeche Mode cover from her album, Strange Little Girls] Handsome Family - "Sunday Morning Coming Down" [this is from an awesome new tribute cd to Kris Kristofferson. i love the Handsome Family.] Josh Rouse - "A Forrest" [a great Cure cover from his new Beyond Cold Blue Stars EP] > The Streets - "It's Too Late" [cor blimey this song gets better every time] Dismemberment Plan - "Timebomb" [by request. i'm kind of neutral about these guys.] The Posies - "Love Letter Boxes" [i'm not neutral about these guys in the least. they're awesome.] Lanterna - "Fields" [nice, beautiful instrumental band] > Denison Witmer - "Sets of Keys" [i have an interview scheduled with him when he comes to town on dec. 18th] Steve Earle - "Jerusalem" [there's a great interview with him in No Depression this month] Jim White - "Heaven of My Heart" [he totally stunned me last week at Go Studios. he's a consistantly inventive performer] Johnny Cash - "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" [great duet with Nick Cave on this Hank Williams Sr. classic] > Aimee Mann - "Today's the Day" Noahjohn - "Personal Best" [from Water Hymns, a really great album] The Church - "Spark" [bought this album last week. i'm in love] Bob Dylan - "Summerdays" > Bruce Springsteen - "The Rising" [going to see the Boss tonight!] Del Amitri - "Not Where It's At" [the song that introduced me to Del Amitri. still has my favourite Dels line in it: 'i don't have my finger on/the pulse of my generation/i just have my hand on my heart/i know no better location.'] The Leatherwoods - "Tinsel Town" [former band of current Jayhawks' drummer, Tim O'Reagan.
