The part about this that disturbs me the most is the provision that would allow the justice department to expatriate any american citizen they could find guilty of working with a 'terrorist organization.' The three keys here are a) at this point, a person has to specifically request to have their citizenship revoked. it's not something that can be just handed down. b) the definition of 'terrorist organization' could be open to some pretty wide government interpretation. perhaps in their attempts to help imprisoned (but not charged) 'terrorist' suspects, members of the ACLU could be convicted of being linked to 'terrorists.' bye, bye citizenship. c) yeah, that's the other thing. you don't have to be convicted of a crime necessarily. you could be linked to lawful activities involved with the organization and still get the boot.
