Wednesday, March 05, 2003 np: the damnables in the living room. let's get to it.. j's indie/rock mayhem - 5th march 2003 Theme Song - Peaches - "Rock Show" > The Minus 5 - "Daggers Drawn" [their new album, down with wilco, is stellar. really, really good.] The Jayhawks - "Save It for a Rainy Day" Fischerspooner - "The 15th" [a great Wire cover from a really solid album.] Matthew Sweet - "I've Been Waiting" [easily one of my faves from girlfriend] > Nada Surf - "Inside of Love" [their new album, let go, is actually quite good.] Idlewild - "Live in a Hiding Place" The Roots - "Rolling with Heat" [for michael] Teenage Fanclub - "Sparky's Dream" [can't get away from this song! sigh.] > Howe Home - "Torque (Tango de la Tongue)" [this is the new howe gelb solo cd? maybe. it's odd. howe is from giant sand, a giant in its own right of the desert americana community.] Television - "Carried Away" Handsome Family - "Weightless Again" ["so much wine" was the first song by them i heard, but when i saw them live, this was the song that cemented me as a fan. the lyrics are breathtaking.] Kathleen Edwards - "Hockey Skates" [almost a week until i see her!] > Supergrass - "Brecon Beacons" [from their new record, life on other planets] Jesse Malin - "Wendy" [i play this song nearly everyweek. but i never get tired of it.] Joy Division - "Heart and Soul (live)" [from the preston warehouse 28 february 1980 live album. a live show in its entirety. frankly, it rules. the equipment fails..ian curtis calls out 'everything is falling apart' at the end. superb.] Sea and Cake - "Hotel Tell" > Paul Brill - "Westering" [from his new sisters lp.] Missy Elliott - "Back in the Day" [by request from gabe. a great song. as is most of missy's stuff.] Weezer - "Across the Sea" [classic weezer from a masterpiece of a record, pinkerton] Glen Phillips - "Darkest Hour" [from the live at largo album. seeing toad on saturday!] > The Clean - "Tally Ho" Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter - "Drinking with Strangers" The Dream Syndicate - "That's What You Always Say" Nicolai Dunger - "Hey Mama" [from his new tranquil isolation album. sooooo good.] > Randy Newman - "Marie" [classic, brilliant newman.] Richard Bucker - "boys, the night will bury you" [from the re-issue of his 'lost' 1996 album, richard buckner] Bob Dylan - "Oxford Town" Josh Rouse - "Women and Men" [a woman called in and asked who this was. i'm always thrilled when people seem to really take to a certain song. growing knowledge of an artist's work is what we're there for, afterall.] Lyle Lovett - "Nobody Knows Me" [this song fuckin' kills me. everytime.] > Mandatory 'Mats - The Replacements - "Gimme Noise" ['hey, brotha get a fuckin' load of this!!!!'] thanks for listening. posted by J.
