np: jurassic 5 - power in numbers
okay. now that six or so months have passed since i first heard power in numbers its status has only grown with me. i won't back down on the idea that as a follow up to that mindblowing masterpiece that was quality control it's a bit of a letdown. if only cos it keeps a steady pace. but that's almost expected with sophomore albums. very rarely do bands continue to make huge leaps between records. wire remains one of the few bands i know to never rest on one beat. radiohead the same. if J5's next album continues in the same vein, i'll start to become suspicious. but for now, power in numbers is every bit as good as quality control and if their third album is the big leap forward, that'll make the wait all the more sweet.
by the way, a sidenote to sleater-kinney: one beat was phenominal..but i still think you can do better. i'm really hoping this next album will be your london calling.
this is just a small entry until i add some more stuff later tonight but i ran across this tidbit over at tom tomorrow's site. he is very cool by the way. read his comics each week if you can.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, bonafide, certified, grade-a, no doubt about it...
i personally find the sentences they are facing to be ridiculous. and their stance to be one of true valour. tom states that he isn't so big on the grandiose civil disobedience, but i am. and this takes the cake. these nuns rule. and my thoughts, and prayers, are with them. this is something we don't need to render unto caesar.
