np: the jayhawks - "settled down like rain"
gary louris was on fresh air on npr this morning. a great interview with a great songwriter. so i pulled out my copy of hollywood town hall and rode around all day with it playing.
in reference to what i was speaking about in the last entry..i think i'm more wounded than i thought. i guess the comments made seemed so caustic..and for someone i had felt was a pretty good person, i was a bit taken aback at the severity of what they had to say. so my idealism, for what it's worth, was knocked back a bit. faith in humanity isn't always what it's cracked up to be. even if i still feel it's the best way to live.

i thought about writing this brief essay on how modern day 'underground' youth cultures are based around pro-longing a adolescent social environment as long as possible in order to finally trump those who belittled them during their actual high school days. the goal being that once one is in control of what makes you acceptable, then you also set and break the standards, thus making yourself ultimately the peak of 'cool.' the irony of the circular nature of this (people within this group feeling the rejection that the initial founders' felt to begin with) notwithstanding.
but i'm not in the mood. so there's my argument in brief.
