Wednesday, September 10, 2003   np: pretty girls make graves - the new romance i'm going to have to listen to it more extensively..but whereas, pretty girls makes graves' good health was my number seven album of 2002..this one will do quite well itself. it already has the makings of being, in my mind, better than their prior release. although the quantity of albums released this year for which i have a very definite affinity is growing by leaps and bounds every month. (lucinda williams, radiohead, the jayhawks, josh ritter, josh rouse, the cash brothers, kathleen edwards, yo la tengo, etc. - you'll notice the high number of alt-country/americana artists - so sue me) so they'll have some competition. it's been a, dare i say it (cos i haven't really been able to say this in awhile) a great year for music. not for the music industry though. which continues its absurdist theatre cherade in the courtrooms of america this week. opening by settling for $2,000 with a 12 year old. and offering amnesty to anyone who wishes to attest that they'll ditch the peer-to-peer networking habit and delete all their illegal mp3s and destroy their illegally burned cds. just sign, have it noterized and you won't get sued. how magnanimus. tomorrow, of course, marks the second anniversary of the world trade center attacks. i won't say much about it. if you wish, go back and read my posts from september of 2001. i was living in london at the time and i still like re-reading what i wrote then. for memories and to remind myself of my feelings of the moment. otherwise, without meaning to sound crass, it's another day tomorrow. -- there's little harder than sitting here. and hearing you. my hands over my ears and clutching my eyelids tight to my face. humming the stars and stripes. forever. it seems useless. forgetful. tedious. all's spent, naught's gained. except.. my bed is full. a few more times. how do i love thee? how do i love thee? if only i could count the ways. cos i'm lost. and empty. and a pity. such a pity. posted by J.
