np: guided by voices - alien lanes

so it's been quite awhile. here's what happened. i had this whole beautiful post set up. and then, as has happened before, i lingered too long on this page and blogger ate it upon my hitting publish. i was discouraged. but whatever.

over at the j's indie/rock mayhem blog you'll find both my top 20 songs i was listening to at the moment, plus the most recent playlists from my shows. so check it out.

also, this will become a permanent link to the right, but check out my friend andrew's artwork deluxe. i really love his stuff if only cos i've been privy to seeing it develop and really dilate his voice over time.

today was my last day doing full time teaching. i completed six weeks of teaching all day. and i'm really half excited and disappointed. i drop my classes in the same order i picked them up, which means my honors tenth graders are the first to go. i left them today with an excerpt from mary wolstonecraft's "a vindication of the rights of woman" (1792) to compare with henrik ibsen's a doll's house (1879) which we had just finished reading. i love getting to use everything i can to leave these kids utterly confused. it's a benefit, i assure you.

any other day of the week i might have had tonnes to say. but today, i'm in a fantastic mood. so i'm not up for diatribes. it's a short week since tomorrow's a workday. i'm sure i'll be back again soon, but for now, since it's been seventeen days since i last posted, i'll let you off easy.

but don't forget to check out the top twenty songs list and the new playlists.
