np: soft silence.

wow tonight was weird.

first off, tonight's playlist for the show will be/is up at the j's indie/rock blog. so check 'er out.

so, perhaps you've heard about this little brou-ha-ha. well, as you read the article, no doubt you've heard the mastermind behind the planting of objects as a guilford student.

tonight at the radio station, while doing a 3 1/2 hour show, i was innundated with calls from the national press. and yes, i mean national press. in addition to the local greensboro news and record, i was contacted by: fox news in washington, the washington post and the dallas morning news. all in some sort of attempt to garner any information possible about the student. it was the reporter from the dallas paper that actually clued me in to the identity of the student who, until tomorrow at least, is not known by name.

if you read the article, it outlines that the student planted the items in a self-proclaimed act of 'civil disobedience' in order to prove the TSA's methods of searching aircraft passingers to have holes. to an extent he proved his point. and it's a valid one. and i'm finding a really hard time getting mad at this guy for pointing out what has been terribly obvious, but not admitted, for some time now. plus, somewhere, thoreau is happy.

i'm hoping he doesn't get into too much hot water. he's not under arrest at the moment. which is a possible positive. they determined that he's not really any threat. which is obvious. my mother called tonight to talk to me about it and ask if i was still planning on going to chicago in two weeks. she was obviously worrying a bit about my impending flight. she left a detailed but brief message on my machine.

so my show was nearly dominated by reporters calling and interviewing, or attempting to interview, me. i couldn't help them much. i played one of the absolute worst vinyl gem songs ever and no one called in. either cos they weren't listening or because so-and-so from this-or-that paper was clogging up the line. good riddance.

but i'm kickin' back with a nice glass of sweet tea. so it's smooth sailing from here.
