np: silence

i'm about to head out to see messr. josh rouse at the cat's cradle. (changed my mind. long, boring, sad story) but this has definitely put a damper on the evening.

elliot smith is dead at age 34.

i've never gone head over heels for smith's songwriting. but i admit that it's quite good. and i was slowly coming around to it as something i wanted to hear more of sometime soon. but as with anyone for whom i have respect (and i most certainly did/do for smith) it is a damn shame to see something like this occur. there is already far too little great music in this world at times. and to see one of its shining beacons go down puts the heaviest of feelings upon you.

may you find peace, elliot.
