tonight, i set out to ace's basement to see the WQFS sponsored Greensboro Covered Up. it was a night of great cover bands, randomly put together by triad musicians. we had the damned, the cramps, x, zz top, the dwarves, flipper, the minutemen, elvis costello and the clash. all in all a great night.
also promoted by the first night of WQFS's 2004 public service campaign to register voters. i've been slowly letting this idea simmer and i'd been sitting on doing much until lately i was spurred onward. so i sat at a table with voter registration forms, a sign announcing what we were doing, and i sat back and waited.
i'm proud to say that WQFS added 22 new voters to the guilford county registration rolls this evening.
i'll be out again tomorrow night, saturday, at the q and not u show at guilford, once again registering voters. if you're in the area, show starts at 7 with two opening bands. it's free. i wouldn't pass up a chance to see one of the best post-punk bands in america if i were you. and drag your unregistered friends along.
