Sunday, August 22, 2004 np: mutual admiration society - "trouble" so i'm going to be attending the piedmont bloggers' conference next saturday. as high in regard as i have held blogging for some time now, it is great to have the opportunity to gather with people to discuss the possibilities and the impact of it all. let alone a group of folks who understand what i mean when i say 'blog' in the first place. three of the folks linked to the right (ed cone, jeff thigpen and eric muller) will be there along with fellow WQFS dj mike pettipas. how dreadfully exciting. eben and i also have tentative plans to attend one of the last greensboro bats' games to be held at war memorial stadium. the new stadium is being built downtown to be ready for next season. next sunday marks the bats' last home game in the historic stadium, and they're home every night this week, monday through sunday. if you're in the area and have never been, this is your chance to see this beautiful stadium in action one last time. (thanks to david hoggard for the tip. he'll be at the blogging conference also.) i'll note that after a bit of an absence, one of my favorite bloggers has returned. follow that link or click 'ninoh' under the friends links. i ended up celebrating a rather lovely birthday yesterday. j. ball, my erstwhile and re-born roomate, presented me with some lovely gifts (a dvd copy of last night, a dictionary of euphemisms and a david sedaris book that i did not own already). brynn gave me a dvd copy of the manchurian candidate. michael gave me an evil rubber duckey. (it's blue and has horns. how devilish.) friends came over and partook of both beverage and good conversation. all in all in was a lovely time. then j. ball was kind enough to take me and his mother and father (his mother's birthday is tomorrow) out for dinner at a swank restaurant here in greensboro. it was a touching weekend. thank you all who were involved for making it so lovely. you are a wonderful group of people and individuals. -- *this post edited for content - 8:15am 8/23/04 - yes, at one point it did contain a post using a comic triple with the line "the surf and the turf" serving as the triple. but no more.* posted by J.
