Wednesday, October 27, 2004 np: aych-ay-double-el-oh-double-yoo-double-ee-en i've always been really fond of the phonetic spelling of the letter "h." tonight is my special halloween show on j's indie/rock mayhem so be sure to tune in for some of my favorite halloween related tunes and bits. i think i'm going to have a delicious mash-up. maybe not as eloquent as it should be, but tune in if you can. 6 - 8pm on 90.9 FM WQFS greensboro. will this make me a groupie? i'm going to go see the drive-by truckers on back to back fridays: friday 12th november in asheville, NC at the orange peel and then friday 19th november in winston-salem, NC at ziggy's. i haven't seen them since right before their stellar newest album, the dirty south, was released, so now that i know the words by heart, it's time to go sing along. and hopefully hear that amazing song "T.V.A." that they played last time i saw them. why in the hell was that not on their new album? a big loss. less than a week. please, please, please encourage every person you can to get out and vote. either early as you can do right now in north carolina, or next tuesday on election day. and don't forget about my endorsement: jeff thigpen for register of deeds here in guilford county. not only does he have a stellar record of service as a guilford county commissioner, but he's a willie nelson fan to boot. i don't think i need to say any more. you can link to his official site and his blog over to the right under 'notes of endorsement.' one of my more conservative students asked if i would go trick-or-treating with him. he would dress as kerry if i'd go as bush. if i were going to be in town, i'd be tempted to take him up on the offer. i'm grateful to have students who, as limited as the basis of their opinions might be, actually do care about the future of our country. it gives me hope, even if i am glad he can't vote in this election since he's too young. posted by J.
