Monday, March 07, 2005 np: archer prewitt - wilderness energy saps the desire to blog, as much as i love to write and love to dive into this stuff. i maintain the radio blog and it's doing well, but i've been so inconsistant with this one. a shame. however, much in the style of how this blog originally started, as a journal of my study abroad experience in london back in the fall of 2001, i now have a source of inspiration. remember how i was on pins and needles waiting? yeah. well, it happened. i'm going to japan for three weeks this summer. thanks to a grant obtained by guilford college, 10 guilford faculty members and 2 high school teachers who are guilford education studies alumni are going to study war and peace as themes in japan for three weeks. also, thanks to the grant, it is incredibly cheap for us going. needless to say, i was selected as one of the high school teachers. it's quite an opportunity for a person who teaches world literature to become exposed to a culture of which he is fairly ignorant. asia has been a gaping hole in my literature knowledge and hopefully this will start to fix that. i'll be leaving june 8th and returning june 29th (as i understand it) and i couldn't be more excited. as i learn details i'll be sharing them here as well as attempting to blog my experiences while i'm over there. if at all possible. so, how many plastic godzillas should i put y'all down for? posted by J. I've been vaguely thinking of teaching English over there somewhere in the future-- perhaps after grad school... By the way, just as a note, I like anything with cats and strange symbols from other languages. Have a wonderful adventure! |
