np: brian eno - another green world

mono, lemme tell you, is not fun.

now, that is not to say that mononucleosis is my excuse for having not posted in a month. that, sadly, is just me being lazy.

i'm proud of myself for having kept the j's indie/rock blog updated, although mono and work prevented me from updating for 5 days after i normally do.

but back to mono. my throat is more swollen than it has been in, well, ever. it makes it hard to swallow, eat, breathe, drink, talk, etc. the worst part being that mono, as a virus, can't really be treated. sure, the doctors can give me a steroid shot to ease the swelling and pain. sure, he can give me an anti-inflammatory drug to take to help with those things. but it still is not fun.

charlie told me that my swollen lymph nodes make my neck look buff or something. i think i just look bloated.

or possibly like one of those frilled lizards. or those cool venom spitting dinosaurs from jurassic park. man. if only venom spitting were a side effect of mono.

city geese sure do amaze me. there are several near my apartment that have taken up nesting residency in various medians in parking lots of shopping centers. two in particular: one right next to the cash points ATM above the wendy's on battleground at brassfield and the other across the street in front of the stein-mart.

i always roll down my window and talk to the mama goose at the ATM when i'm waiting in line. she usually has little to say aside from looking at me warily. although one time she got up to re-arrange some things and i counted six eggs. quite a brood.

unfortunately those no-goodniks, the good samaritans, are back again. last year, a goose built a nest in nearly the same spot. some people, who apprently think nature can't fend for itself, not only brought out small plastic bowls of water, but also built a small wooden structure to cover the bird from rain.

it abandoned the nest, unhatched.

i saw a bowl of water again the other day and it has me worried that the future of six eggs are at stake. do me and the geese a favor, folks: stay away. these geese know what they're doing. sure, it may look dumb to build a nest in front of a stein mart. hell, i almost feel stupid for having an apartment across the street. my bedroom window has a picturesque view of the taco bell, afterall. but believe me, geese are smart. haven't they figured out how to live in greensboro 6 months out of the year already anyway? if they only stayed a few more months and ate up some more resources they'd be like college students...

see, now that's funny cos i went to school here. that's all.
