can someone please explain to me how an NFL team can go 5 - 1 in their division and yet still not make the playoffs? cardiac cats indeed. sigh. you'll get 'em next time, guys. you're still my boys.
people unfortunate enough to share a planning period with me and who frequent the library during said period are often subjecting to my meta-interpretations of the comic strip ziggy. i've become quite convinced that ziggy is the most subversively brilliant comic in the funny papers. my favorite comment about ziggy is that you can sum up any strip by filling in the blanks of this sentence:
"Ziggy looks forlornly at (NOUN) while (VERB PHRASE)."
but more than that, i think ziggy is wry social commentary at its best. today i was a bit upset to find that someone had sort of beaten me to the punch, albeit with the comic strip marmaduke instead. this same blogger also had a blog where he posted ziggy strips with a nipple drawn on ziggy's nose to make his nose resemble a breast. that has its own place, but isn't what i'm going for.
so, i'm going to begin doing my own ziggy postings here on the blog as a way to share the brilliant day-to-day insights of the strip. so here we go.
Interpretation #1) Terrorism is a part of our every day lives and we must be vigilant, aware and upright (much like Ziggy) in order to not be taken by surprise.
Interpretation #2) Ziggy lives in Baghdad and is leaving the Green Zone.
Interpretation #3)Living is suspicious activity, man.

whoa, what a great idea. I'm going to begin looking at ziggy from a more sociological perspective.
