so, it's an attempt to get my blogging here up and running again. the radio blog is forever onward, but here, things have slowed. so, i'll start simply and see where we go, since i'm not quite sure where i want this blog to go anymore.

i went to see josh rouse and the lemonheads last week in chapel hill (separate shows). josh rouse was superb as always and it was a blast to see the lemonheads for the first time, even if evan dando is the only original member left. now if i could just find the guy who yelled out 'play something else!' in the middle of evan's solo-acoustic rendition of "the outdoor type" and made him stop playing. jackass.

radio meetings are sometimes fortuitous to attend. i waltzed back into the station to see something and a fellow dj plopped a copy of the forthcoming arcade fire album into my hands. it's not out until march sometime and yet here it is. as i said, fortuitous.

CVS was trying to ditch its small stock of cds that they sell (for some unknown reason) and had marked them all down to $2.50. so i picked up a copy of U2's war. i've never cared much for U2, but given the music i like, i've tried. five-star rating be damned, allmusic, i just don't love it. i like it fine. but really, i think the church were making somewhat similar and ten-times better records at exactly the same time and i'd rather listen to them.

warning: i may be about to become re-obsessed with the gun club. my mp3 player has been popping up songs from their second album, miami, a lot on random. i've never given it a full, proper listen and from what i've heard, when i do, i'm going to flip. fair warning.

i bought an old, simple drum machine. and i'm buying a mandolin this week, in order to learn to play it. i miss playing. so it's time to return.
