np: dangermouse - the grey album
so here's the part of the story where i disappear for two weeks...
and man have i missed a lot. the sinclair story is unbelievable, and i don't need to post about it as the rest of the blogosphere has it covered. long story short, sinclair is forcing its affiliates to air a movie calling kerry's military record into question just a few days before the election. if you haven't heard the gory details, kos and atrios have been on it, as well as our local hometown hero, mr. sun. also, as you can see, i'm no stranger to this broadcasting group myself. if you live in one of their markets (as anyone here in the triad does), give your local affiliates a call and tell them what you think.
the election is now officially less than three weeks away. this is one hell of a time to be doing nothing. help register people, talk up undecided voters, do whatever you can to let no one go into a voting booth on november 2nd without knowing the facts in all their disturbing glory.
the beginning of november will mark the opening of nominations for the j's indie/rock top 25 albums of 2004. your favorite albums of the year? throw 'em my way, either in comments or in email. help me remember what made this such a really stellar year for music.
i have to give seriously mad props to vh1 for their hip-hop honors show. they pulled quite a few people out of the woodwork and it was a treat to see public enemy, anthrax and the beastie boys together. fat joe's tribute to krs-one was also very cool. and nas' li'l solo performance? he really is one of the best MCs in all of hip-hop.
by the way, just so you know, my current probable pick for album of the year? the streets' a grand don't come for free.
